      Cigarette Smokers are Addicted

Are all cigarette smokers addicted? Not at first. Smoking is a habit just like anything else that is done in a repetative manner. It takes time to do something over and over again until you can do it without thinking about it. What I find interesting about becoming addicted to smoking is that you have to go thru so much agony in order to get to the place where you can actually enjoy smoking a cigarette. What's even more interesting to me is that there are smokers that are addicted to cigarettes, and they don't even like to smoke! I mean, they don't like anything about it; the smell, the taste, of course the cost and the fact that they just can't help themselves from reaching for another one over and over again. It's really an amazing thing to think that there still are people out there who are thinking about taking up the smoking habit. Please see warning to people who want to learn how to smoke for some very important information.

So exactly what part of smoking is addictive? It may surprise many smokers to find out that there is more to the smoking addiction than just the nicotine. There are actually over 4,000 chemicals in tobacco and more than 400 of those chemicals are addictive. This is why it's nearly impossible for most people to go "cold turkey." There certainly are people who have done this successfully but for most, not without much discomfort and anxiety. But there's another part of smoking cigarettes that's addictive and that's the emotional aspect. I think that, by far, the emotional addiction is the hardest one to break. Emotional discomfort of any kind; pain, lonliness, fear, anxiety, stress, depression and even anger are much harder to get over in comparison to physical pain. For instance, if you have physical pain there are all kinds of pain relievers that usually do the trick, generally speaking. Once the physical pain is under control it's much easier to smile again and be kind to other people. Emotional pain on the other hand tends to linger. Even if you take something to give your mental state a lift, there's still the memory of the negative thoughts that threaten to come back into your mind and bring you down again. This is why I believe, along with many others, that the EMOTIONAL CONNECTION to smoking is what really holds people back from quitting for good.

There's much INFORMATION ON SMOKING out there as far as why it's bad as well as what the CIGARETTE EFFECTS actually are. You would think that with all the smoking research statistically proving the SMOKERS HEALTH as being negative after so many years of smoking (sometimes not even that long) that they would just get the message and quit smoking. If only it were that easy. But it's not. Remember, it isn't only the nicotine addiction that has to be dealt with but all the other things mentioned above in addition. And again, the emotional addiction being the strongest.

If you love smoking as much as I did and feel that the emotional connection is just too strong to break, then try my quit smoking plan. It really is possible to quit smoking while still smoking.
